Biofuels have been promoted as a clean and renewable alternative to the often-dirty oil industry. In Peru, the initial promotion of biofuels focused on encouraging private investors to comply with the obligatory mixing schedule established by the government; but this effort gave insufficient attention to the social and environmental impacts that energy crops can have in a country like Peru. 'Biofuels in Peru: Issues at stake' presents the different perspectives of specialists and authorities, analyzing the many implications of biofuel promotion in Peru. This video is part of the Advancing Conservation in a Social Context Initiative (ACSC), Peruvian Society for Environmental Law (SPDA).
