Tamar Pataridze, Georgia

18 April 2012 | Article

My name is Tamar Pataridze and I am running for Regional Councillor for Eastern Europe, North and Central Asia at IUCN. Hereby, I would like to invite you to support my candidacy and share my ambition to make our world better. The latter definitely is not an easy task but based on examples of the world’s great achievements - ambitious objectives are small steps that if taken, will lead to accomplishment of an overall goal.

I am a public figure directly involved in policy making and management of the protected areas system of Georgia, a former civil society activist fighting for women’s human rights and equal access to natural resources, a representative of the country and region with one of the most endangered biodiversities in the world.

With that background my “small step” as a Regional Councillor would be an active participation in the implementation of the IUCN Programme 2013-2016 on the one hand and promoting regional issues within the agenda of the Union on the other.

I count on your cordial support and will be looking forward to the meeting in Jeju in September.
