I am privileged to have been engaged with such a unique organization as IUCN for more than 19 years.
In 1993 I took part in negotiations with IUCN for increasing IUCN activities in the Region. From 1994 to 2000 I was twice elected as IUCN Regional Councillor.

In this position I did my best to contribute to promoting lUCN's Mission in the Region and supporting the work of IUCN Members and Commissions.

In 1998 I was engaged in establishing the Russian National Committee for IUCN and also served as its Chair.

Since 1994 I did my utmost to provide contributions to major IUCN fora, including Congresses and regional IUCN Members' meetings (meeting of European IUCN Councillors and Chairs of National Committees in Europe, Saint-Petersburg, Russia, September 2010).

If I am elected for the second term as IUCN Regional Councillor I will continue to advance the Vision of IUCN, its One Programme Approach throughout the world, with particular emphasis on the statutory region.
