Congress highlights: Promoting a lasting legacy

13 June 2013 | News story

It’s great to reminisce about the stimulating workshops, heated Assembly debates and balmy evenings spent networking on the beautiful island of Jeju, Republic of Korea, last September, but it’s even better to build on the concrete achievements of the 2012 IUCN World Conservation Congress.

So, as you read through the Highlights of the 2012 World Conservation Congress, we encourage you to:

  • Reflect on the commitments made in Jeju, individually and collectively, to address our most pressing challenges.
  • Engage with IUCN’s Programme, an effective roadmap for realizing the congress theme and IUCN vision of nature+. Make nature part of the solution to achieve a fairer, more resilient world which values and conserves ecosystem services.
  • Be inspired by what we accomplished at the Congress: achievements through influence, action and knowledge, detailed in the 2012 Highlights.
