Call for nominations for Council positions to be elected at 2012 Congress

IUCN’s Members and Commission members are called on to participate in the governance of the Union and contribute to the election process for the next IUCN Council 2012-2016.

Information concerning the election of Council members at the IUCN World Conservation Congress, to be held in Jeju, Republic of Korea from 6 to 15 September 2012, has been sent to IUCN Members and Commission members.

IUCN Member organizations and institutions (Categories A and B) can suggest names, for consideration by Council, for the positions of President, Treasurer and Commission Chairs. Commission members can also suggest names, for consideration by Council, for the position of Chair of their respective Commission. These suggestions should be sent to the Chair of the Nominations Committee of Council. Furthermore, Members (Categories A and B) can submit nominations for Regional Councillors to the Election Officer.

A full explanation including details on how to participate in this process and contact information has been provided in the communications sent out via email. This information is also available to IUCN Members and National and Regional Committees via the Members’ Portal.

Representatives of IUCN Member organizations/institutions (focal points for relations with IUCN and Congress matters) who have not yet received this information should contact membership@iucn.org  

Commission members who have not yet received information on how they can participate in this process should contact their respective Commission focal points.
