As the Secretary General of the Chinese National Committee of DIVERSITAS and a Professor of Ecology, I devote most of my time and energy to biodiversity research and conservation.

The priorities in this regard include 1) facilitating biodiversity monitoring and the development of associated networks at national and regional level; 2) facilitating the development of biodiversity information sharing platforms on a national and regional scale; 3) conducting assessment on plant conservation progress at national and regional level; 4) promoting biodiversity conservation training and awareness; 5) organizing conferences, workshops on biodiversity science, at both national and international level.

Through these activities, biodiversity conservation and research are strongly promoted. Biodiversity and its conservation is the core part of nature conservation for IUCN. Nature is the fundamental supporting system for human beings to meet the global challenges such as climate change, food security, social and economic development.

I would continue my commitment mentioned above, if elected as a Councillor and would try my best to facilitate effective communication and cooperation among Members, Commissions and Secretariat at the regional level in particular.
