All interested participants born after 15 September 1987 can be classified as Youth and participants falling under that category may benefit from a reduced registration fee. To access our online registration system and to view detailed information on registration fees and procedures, please visit our registration website.

Please note that Participants registering as youth will not be recognized as part of a Members’ delegation or Commission and will be requested to present a photo ID on-site to prove their age.
There are many events and activities at the Congress which may particularly interest youth participants. Amongst these, we highly recommend browsing through and participating in the conservation campus. Many workshops running during the Forum may also interest the youth. We would like to confirm that anybody, including non-IUCN members, can attend the Congress and the different registration fees are available on our website.

The 2012 IUCN World Conservation Congress is an exciting networking, contributing and sharing opportunity and could only be made more successful and memorable with your participation.

The World Conservation Congress is a great platform for discussions and showcases centred on environmental conservation. It is a great time to meet, network and discuss with other participants; to present your idea to educate your peers; and certainly an opportunity to expand our conservation community by sharing your knowledge, skills and ambitions.

In the past, Congresses were held every two years, then every three, and now they are held every four years. Initially, the Congress only consisted of the Members’ Assembly of all IUCN member organizations. Since 1996, the Congress has grown to include the Forum, open to all, to debate major sustainable development issues, propose solutions and facilitate the sharing of information and experiences. The IUCN World Conservation Congress has been held in all corners of the world and we are excited to be hosting the upcoming Congress in the Island of Jeju, Republic of Korea, in September 2012. 

 

Travel and Transportation

 

The Government of Korea is providing free shuttle buses from all the hotels where the participants, who reserved their accommodation via the Official Booking site, are staying.

There is also access to public transportation (not free of charge) near the accommodation selected by IUCN and the KOC especially for the Congress. However, we strongly recommend using the free shuttle buses for transportation to and from the Congress venue.

All information on accommodation types, prices and location are published on our Congress website and on the online hotel booking system. 

Assistance with visa letters will only be given to fully registered participants. You may request for a Visa support letter on our online registration platform by ticking the option to receive one. When you tick that checkbox, you will be asked to fill in your passport information. Once your registration is submitted and paid, an invitation letter will then be sent to you by our Professional Congress Organizer.

IUCN is currently raising funds to enable all its Members from countries in need to participate but unfortunately is unable to raise funds for other participants. The Exhibition at the World Conservation Congress is designed to provide IUCN members, Commissions and Partners the opportunity to showcase their organizations and/or projects related to the Congress Theme Nature+ and/or related to the IUCN Programme 2013-2016. The Exhibition will be located in a tent on the ground floor of the Congress Venue (ICCJ) in the public zone.

All participants are eligible to apply for booking a stand at the Exhibition. However, please note that 75 % of the Exhibition space is reserved for members, commissions and national & regional committees (percentage is subject to change). Thus, all applications submitted by participants who fall in categories other than those I listed will be screened and stand allocation will then be made on a first come, first served basis.
Registration for booking a stand in the Exhibition is available via our online exhibition booking system.

Our online booking system for tours and excursions will open its doors in May 2012, which will allow you to browse through a range of tours and select your choice of excursions according to your personal preferences.

There are a number of Forum sessions which will be interpreted in the 3 official languages of the IUCN (English, French and Spanish) and this goes the same for the Member’s Assembly. In addition, specifically for this Congress, these sessions will also be interpreted in Korean.
However, IUCN will not have interpreters to accompany the participants during the Congress. This will have to be organized individually and is not facilitated by the IUCN.
