IUCN Awards

Throughout the history of IUCN, conservation heroes have given their all in the quest for a just world that values and conserves nature, making exceptional personal contributions to the conservation of nature and natural resources.

IUCN was honoured to recognize some of these inspirational individuals, nominated by Members, Commission members and the general public, at the IUCN World Conservation Congresses.

On 11 September 2012, the following awards were presented at a special session (5th sitting) of the Members’ Assembly of the 2012 IUCN World Conservation Congress:
